The View from Saturday is a 1996 novel by E.L. Konigsburg, written for young readers.
In the novel, four sixth graders compete in an academic bowl while learning to appreciate diversity. As the students answer questions, the story doubles back on itself and their lives start intertwining in retrospect.
Our students, having read the story in the Summer Book Club, created a stage adaptation of the novel. The story unfolded across three scenes and the actresses laced together its different parts.
Following the performance, the audience discussed the themes of friendship and rivalry that were explored in the play.
