This time, three groups of second-foreign-language learners of French, German and Spanish convened to compete, each in their own target language. English as the lingua franca, was only employed when intergroup communication was necessary.

In the first stage, participants earned points for their group by trying to identify the names of the fruits and vegetables that were drawn on the board.

In the second stage, they solved a series of puzzles to get to the ingredients and the complete recipe for the salad they were required to make.

And finally, they set to work preparing a typical salad associated with their target language.
